Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-T2 landed in late 2007 with an idea that seemed almost excessive — 4GB of internal memory that could store up to 1,000 full-resolution photos or 40,000 VGA copies. This has been one of the most requested cameras we've had in recent months, and it's easy to see why. The innovative sliding front panel folds over itself to create one continuous flat surface when closed, the 2.7-inch touchscreen handles nearly every control function, and Super SteadyShot optical stabilization keeps everything sharp. A camera that was as much about carrying and sharing photos as taking them.

THE LOOKS
In black, the T2 has that distinctive mid-2000s Sony aesthetic — smooth aluminum surfaces on the front, top, and sides, with the black LCD frame creating a clean contrast on the back. The sliding lens cover is the party piece: the top two-thirds slide downward and fold over the lower third, creating one uninterrupted flat surface when closed. At 87 × 57 × 20mm and 156g it's properly pocketable, and the near-absence of physical buttons keeps those lines completely uninterrupted. Available in black, white, blue, pink, and green.

THE VERDICT
The DSC-T2 is Sony's T-series at its most committed: the folding cover is genuinely clever engineering, the 4GB internal storage removed the Memory Stick inconvenience almost entirely, and the near-buttonless touchscreen interface was a real design statement for 2007. Image quality is honest mid-2000s CCD — warm, slightly soft, exactly what people are after — and the form factor is one of the cleanest of the era. A proper collector's piece.
