The DSC-T90 arrived in February 2009 as the T77's direct successor — same 13.9mm folded-optics body, same sliding lens cover, same all-screen rear — but with 12.1 megapixels, 720p HD video, and Intelligent Auto added to the spec sheet. It sat below the T900 in the lineup, which meant a smaller, lower-resolution screen but the same Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar glass and the same Super SteadyShot that made the T-series worth carrying.

THE LOOKS
The brown T90 reads as bronze depending on the light — warm and metallic, with the kind of depth that flat silver doesn't have. The body is 94 × 57 × 15mm, all-metal, with the entire rear given over to the 3-inch touchscreen and almost no visible controls. The sliding lens cover doubles as the power switch. At 148g it's solid for its size. Also available in silver, black, pink, and blue.
THE SPECS
The 12.1-megapixel Super HAD CCD delivers the warm, characterful output the T-series was always capable of — here paired with Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar glass covering 35–140mm and Super SteadyShot optical IS in a 15mm-deep body. That combination of Zeiss glass and real optical stabilization in a camera this thin was a genuine achievement in 2009. DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

The T90 is the T-series formula at its most refined — thin enough to forget about, metal enough to feel intentional, Zeiss glass sharp enough to justify the premium over cheaper compacts. The 720p video was a meaningful addition over the T77. Brown is the color that makes a standard camera feel like a considered one — the kind of choice that reads differently a decade and a half later. A well-made late-2000s Sony that holds up.
