Sony's HDR-CX200E arrived as a budget-friendly Full HD Handycam that prioritized ease of use and portability over manual controls. The Intelligent Auto mode analyzed your shot in real time and combined up to 60 different scene combinations automatically — point, shoot, and share without wrestling with a single setting. Carl Zeiss optics and a back-illuminated Exmor R sensor rounded out a spec sheet that punched well above its price tag.

THE LOOKS

THE VERDICT

The HDR-CX200E is the budget Handycam that covered all the bases without asking much of its owner. No internal storage and no manual controls kept it firmly entry-level — but for casual everyday video in the early 2010s, it was exactly enough.
